AT&T’s Version of the HTC Touch Diamond2 Gets FCC Approval

The FCC has has given AT&T permission to release a version of the HTC Touch Diamond2, providing virtual confirmation that this wireless carrier will be offering this Windows phone. AT&T passed on this model’s predecessors, the original HTC Touch and the Touch Diamond, so it’s somewhat surprising it’s picking up the latest model.

Focus of the design of this smartphone is its 3.2-inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen, a jump up from the VGA screen on the previous model. Below these is a new touch-sensitive zoom bar.

The Diamond2 uses a new version of HTC’s TouchFLO 3D user interface, which has been more deeply integrated into Windows Mobile 6.1 to deliver more consistency throughout applications and menus. Focused on making navigation easier with a fingertip, TouchFLO 3D offers quicker access to contacts, messaging, email, photos, music, and weather than Microsoft’s standard UI. An upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 is considered a virtual certainty for this device.
